This week we have been reading the story of Hansel and Gretel. We have been making pathways and gingerbread houses and all things sweet! We also made our own flapjack for snack and used money from our Great Wood Bank to pay for it. As well as lerning about coin recognition in Maths this week, we have also been talking about addition.
Today we opened our new snack cafe! The children have had great fun toasting and buttering wholemeal bread. They followed the rules, carefully washing their hands before they started and cleaning up after themselves. It has been a rip roaring sucess! Thank you to everyone who donated a soap dispenser bottle - our new self service painting area is now up and running! The children have free access to painting resources and have been doing some fab Gruffalo pictures this week.
We have been very busy since our return to school after the holidays, how time flies when you're having fun! We have been learning about space, practising our new sounds in our new phonics groups and we even managed to fit a trip to the theatre in to watch The Gruffalo's Child! The children have made an excellent start to the new year so far and have come back settled and excited about the new term. This week has been 'Health Week' and we have been learning about keeping healthy and looking after our bodies. On Wednesday we visited the Life Education Centre and met Harold the giraffe. The children had a great time! We have also been talking about keeping our teeth healthy and the children will be taking home a toothbrush and toothpaste set on Friday.
