This afternoon we had our own tea ceremony as part of our Chinese New Year celebrations. We lit incense sticks and played some Chinese music whilst we tried some oolong tea. It was a great success!
We have been learning all about patterns in Maths this week. We are really good at copying and making repeating patterns using lots of different resources. We are also focusing on numbers 11 - 20. This includes recognising, counting, ordering and understanding what they are. For example, 14 is ten and 4. We have been watching this video in Maths and joining in. If you have any questions or need any help supporting your child with Maths, please pop in and see us. After our excitement of the eggs hatching we have been watching out for our visitors. We decided that they were definitely dinosaurs or dragons. Some children thought they must have had wings as the footprints stopped at the fence. We also made a den in case they wanted to come back - keep your eyes peeled! We have also been practising our phonics and learning some new sounds (ai, ee, igh, oa, oo, oo, ar, or). We are encouraging the children to blend and segment independently using the sounds that they know. We are well on our way to be being super readers and writers! This morning we discovered some enormous eggs in our outside area. We have spent all day discussing what they are and where they might have come from. The children have been watching carefully to see if anything is hatching out of them and making warning posters to protect them.
No signs of life yet but watch this space! |
